Bulls_Vs_TrojansThe Casino RSM Bulls were handed a heavy defeat at Lennox Head on Saturday as the reigning Premiers put on a showcase in backline precision, running in nine tries to win 55-7. The Trojans made full use of their superiority in pace and ball movement by scoring majority of their tries from breaks out wide. Although the scoreline did not reflect it, the Bulls held their own in the middle of the park with strong forward play, getting the better of their opponents in many of the physical clashes that were fought out.

Lennox played the smarter Rugby though, more often than not spreading the ball to the wings quickly and making use of any holes in the Casino defence. The Bulls were unable to hold on to the football for any significant amount of time to allow them to build an attack, and their only try was scored by flanker Justin Zaiko, who pounced on a loose ball in the Lennox in goal. Full credit to the Casino men who never stopped contesting despite the daunting scoreline. The Bulls now need to dig deep and try to finish their disappointing season on a high when they face the Ballina Seahorses next weekend. Best and Fairest players Justin Zaiko 2, Jarrad Cameron 2, Percy Zigenfusz/Lachlan Winkler 1 all toiled courageously, but were unable to thwart the dominant Lennox attack.

The Under 19 side continued their run of good form, defeating the Mullumbimby Moonshiners at their home ground 22-6. The young Bulls made excellent use of their monstrous forward pack, and ran roughshod over the hapless Mullumbimby eight. The 19’s backline seized upon the forwards dominant display and made full use of the space, with Siu Kepaoa making some incisive runs from the wing. It wasn’t all positives for Casino, with a on-field melee seeing one Bulls player shown the red card. However, being one man down luckily did not effect the outcome, and the Casino men were able to run away with the win, and fly down to Lennox Head to lend a hand to the First Graders. Siu Kepaoa, Tyler Horsley and Andrew Summers were the standouts in a game where the whole team played near their full potential.

The under 19’s are gaining momentum approaching the semi-finals, and look to do well in representing the club in the post-season. They have a Wednesday night clash through the week before they head down to Ballina to try and push for a major semi final position.

The final game of the year this weekend at Ballina will include a bus trip for all players, so make sure you get down to training and see the season off in good spirits.
