Council News

The NSW Division of Local Government have recently released a document titled "Becoming a Councillor".

Local Government elections in NSW are scheduled for September 2012 so persons interested in becoming a Councillor are encouraged to access the above mentioned document at www.dlg.nsw.gov.au

Council is inviting interested persons/organisations to express their interest in the tenancy of an area of 286m² in the Casino Community and Cultural Centre (Walker Street, Casino).

The expressions of interest should identify details of the proposed use of the area, proposed period of tenancy and information in regard to potential rental terms and conditions.

At an Extraordinary Meeting of Council on 13 December 2011, convened to consider a proposal from the Northern Cooperative Meat Company in relation to water pricing and other matters, Council resolved to advertise a proposal to amend the revenue policy by providing the Northern Cooperative Meat Company with water at 70% of the residential users price for 2011/2012 ie 70% of $1.70 = $1.19 per kilolitre. No other changes to the water pricing structure for 2011/2012 are included in this proposal.

The proposed change is on public exhibition from Wednesday 25 January 2012 to 4.30pm Wednesday 22 February 2012. During the exhibition period, submissions from the community can be forwarded to the General Manager, Richmond Valley Council, Locked Bag 10, Casino, 2470.

In order for the community to be fully informed (so as to facilitate informed comment) copies of the minutes from the Council Meeting and an information document are available for inspection at the following locations or available for download from Council’s website at www.richmondvalley.nsw.gov.au

Expressions of Interest are invited and will be received up to 4.00pm on Friday 24 February 2012, for the lease of the Casino Community Entertainment and Sporting Complex located in Canterbury Street, Casino. The complex incorporates the Sports Stadium and associated shop front and the adjacent Civic Hall.

The lease is for a period of 2 years commencing 1 April 2012 with a further option for an additional period of 2 years.

Old Lawrence Road, Busbys Flat approximately 900m along the road – will be closed at the timber bridge to enable Council to carry out replacement of the timber bridge from 13th February 2012 to 24th February 2012.
