EVANS RIVER & COASTAL LANDCARE

The Evans River & Coastal LandCare Incorporated group was formed in 2012. Our workdays are the first Sunday of each month at various sites around Evans Head.

Some of the current sites where we are working are - the Sand Dunes South of the Surf Club, The Reserve and Kalimna Park on Ocean Drive. Our work days for the first 6 months of 2012 are: Sunday 5 February, Sunday 4 March, Sunday 1 April, Sunday 6 May and Sunday 3 June.

FLOOD DAMAGE ON CROWN ROADS

Due to Richmond Valley Council area having been declared a Natural Disaster area, there is an opportunity for private land-owners who gain access to their property via Crown Roads to claim for Flood Restoration Funding for repairs to the Crown Road back to the pre-flood condition.

The land-owner must contact Council and request an inspection and estimate for restoration works required. Council staff will inspect the roads nominated and include them for assessment by the Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) as part of the Richmond Valley Council Flood Restoration funding application. Council does not inspect or claim for Crown Roads under normal conditions as they are not under Council control but if requested by an affected land-owner can assist in processing the claim for repairs.

There is a limited time available to report damage and property owners living on roads not regularly maintained by Council should consider advising Council of any repair requirements as early as possible. Please contact Council on 66600300. Submissions will close 24 February 2012.

SALTY LAGOON REHABILITATION

Tender No: 217.12 - Salty Lagoon Rehabilitation Program; Closure of Artificial Channel – Dredging and Construction for Salty Lagoon Rehabilitation Implementation Strategy.

Tenders sealed and suitably endorsed are invited from suitably qualified contractors and will be received up to 2.00pm (NSW time), Thursday 1 March 2012, for the closure works of the artificial channel connecting Salty Lagoon to Salty Creek at Evans Head NSW.

Quotation No: 216.12 - Salty Lagoon Rehabilitation Program; Closure of Artificial Channel –Post Closure Revegatation (PCR) for Salty Lagoon Rehabilitation Implementation Strategy.

Quotations sealed and suitably endorsed are invited from suitably qualified contractors and will be received up to 2.00 pm (NSW time), Thursday 1 March 2012, for the revegetation works after the closure of the artificial channel connecting Salty Lagoon to Salty Creek at Evans Head NSW.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted. Canvassing of councillors will disqualify.

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY 2012 EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
