Halloween PhotoThe Scary Halloween season is upon us again. While older generations of Australians have not so much been involved in this event the younger generations are gearing up for all of the fun and festivities. This year R.A.R.E (also known as Random Activities and Raging Events) will be running a Halloween Party at the Casino Basketball Stadium.

Depicting a story beyond what is visible to the naked eye will be the focus of “Macro Moments,” the solo exhibition by local Casino professional photographer, Jess George, at Platypus Gallery.

CricketThe council recently announced the plan to upgrade the sporting facilities located at the Queen Elizabeth Park site. The site which currently holds a range of sports activities including; Greyhound Racing, Rugby, Cricket, Archery, Soccer, Athletics, and AFL, as well as a range of other events throughout the year, is to have existing facilities expanded. The two draft plans which have been laid out for council have been costed at between 10 and 12 million dollars. The two very similar plans centre around improving the site's attractiveness to audiences and event attendees.

A reminder to all budding artists

Rikkie_Fisher_The_Eye_of_the_CulewThe annual Bentley Art Prize is again calling for entrants to share in $8,500 in prize money across 14 categories. Helen Trustum is again making a fantastic effort organising this years art prize. Visitors are expected to come from all over the Northern Rivers to view the collection of works.

The deadline to enter this year’s Bentley Art Prize is Thursday, 28 July 2011. The official opening will take place at the Bentley Hall at 7pm on Friday, 5 August 2011. Viewing of artwork will also be available over the weekend from 9am through until 5pm on the Saturday and 3pm on Sunday. Entry is $3 per person.
